On 26 April 2026, TrustFlight team member Steven Farrugia will take on 26.2 miles through the streets of London to raise money for the National Autistic Society. From the Cutty Sark to Tower Bridge and Buckingham Palace, Steven will be running one of the world’s most iconic races for a cause that is deeply personal to him.

Why Steven Is Running

For Steven, this is about more than a marathon. His daughter is currently waiting for an autism assessment, facing a minimum wait of 22 months. During that time, Steven has tried to research and better understand autism, but found it difficult to access the information and support his family needs.

By raising money for the National Autistic Society, the UK’s largest autism charity, Steven hopes to help the organisation reach more families in the same position and improve access to vital resources for the 700,000 autistic people across the country.

In his own words:

“My daughter should not have to change the way she sees the world, the world should change how it sees her. This is the same for anyone who has autism.”

About the National Autistic Society

The National Autistic Society is the UK’s leading charity for autistic people. It provides support, guidance, and advocacy for autistic individuals and their families, working to transform understanding and create a society that works for autistic people. Funds raised go towards:

  • Information and advice for autistic people and their families
  • Campaigning for better services and policy change
  • Training and education to improve public understanding of autism
  • Support services including helplines, school programmes, and community groups

How You Can Help

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps the National Autistic Society continue its work. Sharing his fundraising page helps spread the word even further.

Donate to Steven’s London Marathon fundraiser

From everyone at TrustFlight, good luck Steven. We will be cheering you on every step of the way.

The post TrustFlight Wrapped 2025: Connecting the Ecosystem appeared first on TrustFlight.

2025 has been a defining year for TrustFlight. What stood out most?

Karl: “2025 was about growth and innovation. The most defining moment for us was introducing Baines Simmons, Kenyon International Emergency Services, and Redline Assured Security to the TrustFlight Group of companies. By doing so, we’re expanding what we can deliver while keeping our purpose clear: to help organisations run efficiently and more reliably. When you prevent the unknown, those unpredictable disruptions, you protect safety, strengthen compliance, and improve operational reliability. That’s what we work toward every day.”

How will the introduction of three new businesses change what you can deliver to customers?

Richard: “Now serving over 1,600 customers, we are creating a structure that reflects what customers need now: a complete, end-to-end safety ecosystem spanning training and education, software tools, and expert services. Kenyon brings 120 years of crisis response experience, alongside Baines Simmons’ deep safety and regulatory expertise and Redline’s security capability, and that combination strengthens the outcomes we can deliver.”

Karl: “Exactly, these three areas reinforce each other. Education helps customers build a shared baseline of what ‘good’ looks like. That foundation makes it easier to implement tools successfully. And once tools are embedded, expert services can provide greater impact because teams are aligned, data is structured, and the operational context is clear.”

How did this ecosystem approach show up in your customer footprint in 2025?

Karl: “Aviation remains our core focus, and we’re proud that the majority of our work continues to serve operators and stakeholders. At the same time, the breadth of our offerings now mean we can support a wider range of organisations and operational environments. It also showed up in our global community. This year we connected with customers across 120 countries, attended over 30 events and hosted approximately 25 webinars, which helps ensure we stay close to real operational challenges across different markets and operating models.”

Innovation was a major theme in 2025. What were the most important launches this year?

Karl: “We launched four new products and services that reflect where aviation safety and compliance are going next, particularly around AI-enabled workflows and integrated assurance: Smart Documents, Smart Regulations, Part-IS Compliance, and Centrik Training.

Richard: “Each launch reflects the same principle we mentioned previously, using technology and expertise to help customers run better and more reliably. Part-IS Compliance is a great example of cross-functional strength in action, bringing together aerospace subject matter expertise, cybersecurity knowledge, and platform capability into one practical solution.”

AI adoption across the industry can be uneven. How are you approaching AI within products?

Karl: “We’re pragmatic and customer led. We see clear opportunities to use AI internally to improve the quality and speed of our own processes, and to embed AI into our platforms where it reduces friction and strengthens outcomes. The operational reality is clear in the data we receive: Centrik 5 customers conducted 82,013 audits this year. At that scale, the opportunity is to help teams work faster and more consistently without compromising traceability.

For us, that means building AI-assisted workflows that cut through complexity while keeping strong governance. It also means scaling e-learning content because the barrier to creating high-quality training is lower than it used to be, and integrating learning into products so teams can access the right knowledge at the point of need.”

Community and customer connection were also a focus for TrustFlight this year. What did engagement look like in 2025?

Karl: “We value community because proximity to customers is how you build the right solutions. A major community milestone was hosting our first customer conference, TrustFlight UsersForum. We welcomed over 100 customers and prospects and hosted 25 sessions over two days, bringing customers and partners together through product workshops, training sessions, and educational panel discussions. In 2026, we’ll build on that foundation by scaling participation, deepening the content, and creating more structured working groups.”

Looking ahead, what are the priorities for 2026?

Richard: “2026 is about expanding the ecosystem and increasing customer impact, while continuing to grow our global community. We’ll keep investing in AI where it improves efficiency and strengthens assurance, and we’ll keep aligning products, training, and services into more joined-up customer solutions.

Karl: “We’ll also build on what we learned from TrustFlight UsersForum, where we received practical insight into customer priorities. Most importantly, we’ll keep listening. The best product decisions come from staying close to the real problems customers face and focusing our innovation on what helps them run safer, more secure, and more reliable operations.”

And finally, who gets a year-end thank you?

Richard: “Our customers, partners, and teams across the TrustFlight Group. Thank you for the trust you place in us and for the work you do every day to keep operations safe. We’re excited to build an even more secure and connected aviation safety ecosystem in 2026.”

For Maintenance Control Centers (MCCs) and frontline engineers, the TrustFlight Tech Log isn’t merely software—it’s the cornerstone of safe, efficient, and compliant aircraft maintenance operations. Through powerful updates aimed at improving oversight, flexibility, and instant access to critical data, the TrustFlight Tech Log continues to evolve, adapting seamlessly to the dynamic needs of modern aviation maintenance.

Here’s how the TrustFlight Tech Log empowers teams with safer, more streamlined, and more efficient maintenance management.

Centralized Deferral Control for MCCs
Every deferral impacts safety, operational availability, and regulatory compliance. The TrustFlight Tech Log places MCCs firmly in control through centralized deferral approvals. Instead of dispersed, independent deferral decisions by individual engineers, MCCs now have direct oversight, ensuring that every maintenance decision strictly aligns with standard procedures and compliance protocols.

Secure Approvals—Even Offline
Aircraft maintenance doesn’t stop when the connection drops. Recognizing this, the TrustFlight Tech Log incorporates a robust Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) mechanism, enabling engineers to securely finalize deferrals even without network connectivity. MCCs remotely provide engineers with secure, time-sensitive authorization codes, ensuring uninterrupted workflows without compromising security or compliance.

Real-Time Data Visibility for Enhanced Decision-Making
Critical maintenance information should never be out of reach. The TrustFlight Tech Log prominently displays Required Inspection Item (RII) sign-off details—complete with signatory identity and timestamp—directly on the web dashboard, supplementing existing iOS visibility. MCC teams gain immediate access to essential inspection results, enabling swift decisions and smoother coordination without switching applications or chasing updates.

Comprehensive Fleet Information at Your Fingertips
Ensuring compliance becomes significantly simpler when accurate records are effortlessly accessible. The TrustFlight Tech Log clearly presents detailed aircraft manufacturer information on both the Fleet page and individual aircraft Overviews, accessible via web and iOS platforms. Operators can conveniently manage the visibility of this information through flexible, admin-controlled settings tailored to specific operational requirements.

Why Operators Rely on TrustFlight Tech Log

In the aviation industry, the ability to manage safety, quality, and compliance with clarity and confidence isn’t a luxury—it’s essential. That’s why Centrik 5 continues to lead the way for organizations looking to take control of their Safety Management System (SMS), Quality Management System (QMS), and Risk Management operations.

Here’s a look at how Centrik 5 helps teams work safer, stay compliant, and operate more efficiently.

Clearer Communication, Safer Culture
Centrik 5 puts safety communication front and center. When someone submits a safety report, they’re not left wondering what happened next. Centrik automatically delivers personalized feedback to the reporter once the case is closed, including how the issue was classified and what actions were taken. This transparency builds trust in the system and reinforces a proactive safety culture across your organization.

Smarter Risk Management
Managing risk isn’t just about ticking boxes—it’s about staying ahead of potential hazards. Centrik 5’s Risk Controls feature gives you the tools to do just that. Risk controls can be directly linked to specific hazards or operational scenarios, so you’re not just identifying risks—you’re actively controlling them. For teams managing extensive risk networks or quality indicators, the system’s responsive design ensures everything runs smoothly, even at scale.

Workflows That Work for You
Every operation has its nuances. Centrik 5 supports that by letting you customize workflows with precision. The system’s dynamic “Do Step” allows for detailed data collection using dropdowns, radio buttons, and hierarchical selections. Whether you’re building a workflow for incident follow-ups, quality audits, or approvals, you get the flexibility to tailor it to your process—without compromise.

Confidence in Compliance
Regulatory compliance is always moving—Centrik 5 helps you keep up. The Quality module clearly flags outdated or invalid regulatory references in compliance checklists, helping your team stay on top of what matters. It also gives you the tools to edit and manage those checklists with confidence, making audit prep faster and reducing the risk of non-compliance.

Why Centrik 5?
Because running a safe, compliant, and efficient operation shouldn’t mean juggling disconnected tools or outdated processes. Centrik 5 brings it all together—with real-time visibility, user-friendly interfaces, and features built around the needs of modern aviation and safety-critical organizations.

Get in touch today to explore how Centrik 5 can help your team stay aligned, act faster, and raise the bar for safety and quality management.

In a recent move aimed at bolstering tax compliance, the IRS has announced plans to audit business aircraft usage for high-income taxpayers, corporations, and partnerships. This increased scrutiny, fuelled by funding from the Inflation Reduction Act, is part of the IRS’s broader strategy to close tax gaps and ensure fair tax administration across all income levels. Given the complexity of distinguishing between business and personal use of corporate jets, maintaining accurate records is crucial. For executives and companies navigating this challenging landscape, leveraging digital systems like TrustFlight’s Tech Log can simplify compliance, minimize risk, and offer a seamless approach to regulatory adherence.

The Challenge of IRS Compliance for Corporate Aircraft
The IRS’s focus on high-income taxpayers and large corporations is specifically targeting aircraft usage—a historically under-scrutinized area due to budget cuts. This new wave of audits will examine whether corporations and partnerships are correctly allocating jet usage for tax purposes, ensuring clear distinctions between business and personal use.

Personal use of corporate jets, often by executives and shareholders, can have significant tax implications, impacting both personal income and a corporation’s deduction eligibility. Under tax code regulations, a company may deduct expenses associated with a jet, provided it’s used primarily for business purposes. However, any personal use by executives, partners, or other individuals must be separately accounted for. Improper allocation or record-keeping can lead to missed deductions, incorrect income declarations, and potential penalties. The IRS’s advanced analytics and additional resources mean companies will need precise, defensible data regarding aircraft usage.

How Digital Solutions Like TrustFlight’s Tech Log Make Compliance Easier
Amid this increased IRS scrutiny, businesses can benefit from comprehensive digital systems designed to track and document corporate jet usage with precision. TrustFlight’s Tech Log, a leading digital platform for aviation record-keeping, offers a robust solution that can greatly enhance transparency and accountability while integrating into flight planning, scheduling, and M&E systems.

How exactly does the TrustFlight Tech Log help operators comply with the new IRS audits?

Automated Record-Keeping
TrustFlight’s Tech Log captures and organizes flight data in real time, including details on each trip’s purpose, duration, and personnel on board. This allows companies to clearly document the allocation of business versus personal travel without the hassle of manual record-keeping, which is often error-prone and lacks transparency.

Streamlined Audit Process
During an IRS audit, detailed, organized, and accessible records are crucial. The digital nature of TrustFlight’s Tech Log allows instant access to historical data, with timestamped entries that verify usage details. When records are well-documented and quickly accessible, companies are better equipped to respond to IRS inquiries, demonstrating due diligence and reducing the likelihood of prolonged audits.

Enhanced Data Security
Compliance with IRS regulations also requires data integrity. TrustFlight’s Tech Log offers secure data storage, protecting sensitive information from unauthorized access or loss. The platform’s secure infrastructure ensures that vital records are preserved and meet the IRS’s data security expectations.

Integration with Advanced Reporting
TrustFlight’s Tech Log also enables advanced reporting and analytics, which companies can use to further refine their compliance efforts. Detailed reports offer insights into usage patterns, making it easier to proactively manage jet usage policies, anticipate tax impacts, and make informed decisions on future trips.

Beyond Compliance: Additional Benefits of Digital Systems
Using digital systems like TrustFlight’s Tech Log extends beyond IRS compliance. It also streamlines operational efficiency and reduces administrative costs. By automating data entry and simplifying categorization, companies can free up resources previously dedicated to manual record-keeping and minimize the potential for human error. The transparency offered by digital records not only supports compliance but also enables better decision-making and policy enforcement at the corporate level.

Preparing for Increased IRS Scrutiny
The IRS’s recent announcement signals a proactive approach to closing tax gaps in high-income brackets and previously overlooked areas, such as corporate jet usage. With IRS audits expected to increase in frequency and complexity, companies must be prepared to demonstrate responsible tax practices. Leveraging digital systems like TrustFlight’s Tech Log provides a streamlined, accurate, and reliable method of record-keeping that aligns with IRS standards and fosters transparency.

In conclusion, as the IRS steps up its oversight of corporate jet usage, companies can turn to TrustFlight’s Tech Log to ensure compliance. With its automated features, secure infrastructure, and advanced reporting capabilities, TrustFlight’s Tech Log is an invaluable tool for organizations seeking to manage their records responsibly, minimize audit risks, and focus on strategic growth rather than administrative burdens. For companies navigating today’s regulatory landscape, the adoption of comprehensive digital systems is not just a compliance measure—it’s a step toward operational excellence and peace of mind.

Air operators never get any downtime. Be it from last-minute maintenance issues to management requests and demands, change is always in the air. Indeed, management of change is one of the most complex elements of an air operators’ day to day. Whether it’s as “simple” as moving hangars or as complex as onboarding a Boeing 777 onto the AOC, management of change is challenging. We spoke with Jim Gautrey, a long-time aviation industry maintenance executive, now with TrustFlight Aviation Services. His team provides bespoke tools, processes, and the required personnel to manage all manner of change for aviation organizations worldwide.

So, Jim, what exactly is change?

Jim: “Change ultimately is when an air operator becomes a more complex organization or undertakes a complex task that fundamentally makes the operator a more complex operator. If an operator transitions from one aircraft to three aircraft, that can be managed relatively simply. If they transition to say, three aircraft to ten, the air operator is a fundamentally more complex organization. Similarly, if an air operator wants to bring on a new type of aircraft — where the operator has little to no expertise or experience in terms of operating that aircraft — they will need the right personnel. The reality is that management of change can be all sorts of things. In each of these changes, you need people who understand the change.”

While are people so critical?

Jim: “Without the people, it’s a non-starter. The operator either has to employ them directly, or contract them, or find a consultancy that has the required experience. In my experience, to properly manage change, an air operator needs that combination of people, processes, and technology to support. An operator will have their personnel determine the requirements. They’ll be armed with a shopping list of all the IT systems, maintenance facilities, and spare parts for example. If they are not in hand, the operator must determine who will supply them. In the case of aircraft records, who’s going to manage the aircraft records — who is going to manage all the software providers. So, yes, ultimately, it starts with the people.”

How does TrustFlight help clients manage change?

Jim: “Our team — or any sophisticated team working with an aviation firm or airline — will first analyze the change. The operator must understand the totality of the project. Do they know the full implications? A subset of this is an impact assessment — the process by which an air operator can assess the impact of any action on their operation. It’s a distilled version of management of change. ‘Can we deal with this impact? Or do we need a more in-depth examination?’. Adding a new type might require much more in-depth analysis. A change in the regulations might be relatively simple. For instance, the operator must understand the regulations, review the manuals, and then make them compliant. With a more complex process, the operator — with our assistance — might need to identify the right people, and understand what tools and processes those people need to address the changes. That could involve software solutions, or additional resources.”

This seems like it will involve a fair amount of third parties. Is that right, or can this be done in-house from the get go?

Jim: “Right. If the air operator is trying to make changes quickly — and most are — the most efficient solution at the start is to contract out the processes and solutions. The operator will come to an organization like TrustFlight because we’ve got off-the-shelf solutions. They could be managing the project initially with an Excel spreadsheet. Better, though, it could be TrustFlight SMS. TrustFlight SMS makes this easier because you can allocate tasks to individuals. You can repeat the tasks, and it’s an intuitive tool. As the operator progresses, TrustFlight continues, or the operator will scale to such a size where it’s more cost-effective for the operator to bring certain functions in-house, and that’s fine by us. We’ve got them going, and we’ve helped them out. We can go and help the next firm that needs support.”

What role do the regulators take in the management of change?

Jim: “Oftentimes, what’s needed is to work with the regulator to help an operator explain the change. That is quite specialized knowledge. Part of the management of change is managing the expectations of the stakeholders, be that the regulator, the chief executive officer, or investors. Some clients, however, need more than an effective tool to manage the change, they need the help with the change itself.”

What are some ways the management of change goes wrong for an aviation operator?

Jim: “An air operator needs people that are wired like a project manager. Most people are not adept at project management. The right project manager is technically knowledgeable. They don’t need to be an expert, but they’ve got enough information that they can understand what they’re being told about. They’re methodical and organized. They can track information and attention to detail. Second, management may not understand the full impact of the change they are seek, and the detail required. It can be very challenging to simply track all of the elements of change. To add a new type, for example, there might be 150 individual aspects that need to be addressed. An operator needs a system to track all of this.”

Airline safety always makes for news — and it did recently in Canada: a confidential audit from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) reportedly found that the northern country scored “64 out of 100” for Canada’s implementation of critical elements of a safety oversight system.

According to the media reporting, Canada ranked below other G7 countries — except for the United Kingdom — and the majority of the 38 states in the OECD. The actual audit was not released, and so details are sparse.

Nevertheless, Canadian regulators — like their global brethren — have adopted regulations requiring air operators to implement a safety management system (SMS). This particular audit from ICAO was a country-level analysis, rather than a prognostication on individual operators in Canada. (Those same operators pushed back on the reporting, as noted in several trade media.)

Globally, software like Centrik is widely used by airlines, business jet operators, civil aviation authorities, and airports to manage their SMS — the processes and record-keeping required for a safe operation.

So, what goes into an effective SMS?

Proper internal reporting is the key component, says Jim Gautrey, an SMS subject-matter expert, and long-time consultant to airlines and aviation firms on safety management. Internal reporting is essential for identifying recurring issues. Safety reporting within an SMS is an effective way to unveil hidden risks for air operators. It allows them to assess potential risks — and ultimately mitigate them — resulting in a safer operational environment. Operators quantify the risk profile, which enables them to identify their risk factors and address them. Everything can be properly logged through software that tracks risks, incidents, and responses. But all the best aviation safety software in the world can’t mitigate for a lack of internal reporting. It’s a key element to an effective SMS, Gautrey says.

Safety assurance is an integral part of the SMS, where organizations verify the effectiveness of implemented safety measures through regular audits and compliance monitoring. This ensures that safety protocols are adhered to and that risk mitigations are functional. By connecting audit findings to risk mitigations, operators gain insights into areas that require improvement and can continuously enhance their safety practices. Leveraging data analysis is crucial to data-driven decision-making in the aviation industry. SMS data empowers aviation managers with valuable insights towards creating a safety culture.

Incidents will occur, Gautrey says. The key is how an operator responds. Safety investigations are conducted to spot issues that contributed to incidents, enabling organizations to implement corrective actions, ensuring long-term accident prevention. They provide insights into the root causes of incidents, which can then be addressed to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

Establishing a compliant SMS demands a step-by-step roadmap that involves setting clear safety goals and objectives, developing robust safety reporting procedures, implementing a risk management process, conducting thorough safety investigations, integrating safety assurance and compliance monitoring, and utilizing advanced SMS software, such as Centrik, to streamline data management and analysis.

This approach helps aviation organizations to create a continuous culture of safety. In conclusion, SMS data is a powerful tool to enhance safety and prevent accidents. By leveraging safety reporting, risk management, safety investigations, and safety assurance, aviation professionals gain valuable insights into their operations.

And this is just what Canadian aviation operators do, just like their global counterparts.
